Annual Open House at Bigelow Laboratory

Bigelow Laboratory scientists explore environments across the globe, and they bring all they learn back to our state-of-the-art facility in East Boothbay, Maine. On Friday, July 11, we invite you to visit our laboratory for our open house to learn more about those discoveries!
This year, we are especially excited to welcome you to the newly opened Harold Alfond Center for Ocean Education and Innovation, which constitutes a significant expansion to our facility and will transform our education and solutions-focused efforts.
The open house is an opportunity for Bigelow Laboratory scientists to share what theyβre learning about ocean science. The staff will lead a range of scientific demonstrations and activities for visitors of all ages, such as creating seaweed art, viewing live plankton under a microscope, and sampling water with real oceanographic equipment off the dock.
This all-ages event is free and open to the public. Let us know if you are coming to get stickers when you arrive! Visit bigelow.org/openhouse for more information.
