Course fee is $20 and includes 5 hours of STARS-credited training. This course is designed for Early Childhood Educators and individuals training to become educators, but anyone interested in this content is welcomed to register.



This five hour training will explore strategies for planning
developmentally appropriate curriculum for young children that is aligned with childinterests/skills and with the Vermont Early Learning Standards. Through anddiscussion, participants will increase understanding of how to use o bservation, VELS and knowledge of early development and developmentally appropriate practice to guide planning for intentional and engaging learning.


Schedule:


9:00-10:30β€”Overview of the Purpose and Use of the VELS and Principles of Developmentally Appropriate Practices (large group)

10:45-12:15β€” Building our understanding of how to use the VELS effectively when planning developmentally appropriate curriculum for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers (small groups)

12:15-1:00 Lunch (on your own)

1:00-3:00β€” Developing our practices: We will explore practical strategies for
planning and implementing curriculum in infant, toddler and preschool settings that is both emergent, child centered AND intentionally aligned with specific learning goals and intended outcomes for children.
