Feathers 101

When we see birds, we’re mostly seeing feathers! Those feathers are arranged seamlessly to provide a wide array of functions that help birds survive and pass on their genes. This program will use instruction and hands-on activities, including the use of microscopes, to teach the types and structures of feathers on a bird and how they maintain their plumage to stay warm and dry. This is designed to give new or seasoned birders greater appreciation for this remarkable adaptation.
