Spend a day at the beautiful timber framed workshop set in ancient woodland and learn how to carve and whittle a unique wooden bangle with only hand tools. You can get extra creative with natural milk paints to add a bit of colour to your bangle too and, either way, take home a handcrafted bangle you've made.
This workshop not only gives you the information and skills you need to make wooden bangles but also gives an introduction to green woodworking.
In this one day workshop, we'll take you through the whole process:
- The theory - a basic introduction to green woodworking and carving techniques, the process of making a bangle, selecting suitable wood, what natural milk paints are and how to use them
- An introduction to practical green woodworking and carving skills using traditional hand tools only.
- Learn how to drill using a barrel eye auger.
- Learn simple axing techniques for bangle production.
- Learn carving techniques and how to work with a carving knife to whittle a bangle.
- As an optional extra, you can enhance the bangle with natural milk paints.
ARE THERE ANY REQUIREMENTS?
- This is a beginner to intermediate session and no previous experience is necessary.
- Please wear sturdy outdoor shoes (you will walk through the woods to get to the workshop) and clothing you're happy to wear while handling wood and tools.
