Join Starling Shakespeare Company for a Shakespeare workshop, then come see Hamlet!
When: July 18th, 2025. 5:00 pm
Where: Outside the Nordic Center at Lake Elmo Park Reserve
What: This interactive workshop invites participants to explore issues of environmentalism - particularly climate change and water conservation - through the lens of Shakespeare’s plays. By examining selected moments from the plays and understanding important context about our current relationship to our ecosystem, attendees will discover how Shakespeare’s texts reflect complex relationships with nature, land, weather, and human responsibility. Participants will engage in close readings, group discussions, and creative activities that link early modern ecological ideas to contemporary environmental challenges. The workshop will highlight how Shakespeare’s plays can serve as powerful entry points for thinking critically about climate change, conservation, and sustainability today.
