The news of Brian Wilson’s death on June 11th was not entirely surprising, but it deeply affected anyone and everyone who has been touched by his musical genius - and surely that’s anyone who’s listened to popular music over the past 60 years.
Please join us on July 25th for a very special Sound Lounge tribute to Brian and the Beach Boys, including live music and conversation, audio and video material and more. Live interpretations from the classic catalogues of Brian and the Beach Boys by longtime devotees such as Dick Philpot, Danny George Wilson and members of the Ladles;
Tracks, albums and videos from Brian’s solo work as well as Beach Boys classics, deep cuts and tribute songs;
An exclusive playback of Paul Sexton’s ‘Sold On Song’ documentary for BBC Radio 2, based on his 2005 interview with Wilson at his home in Los Angeles. Some of the conversation is illustrated by Brian at the piano, and he talks about his love of such artists as Chuck Berry and the Four Freshmen. The show also features covers of his work by James Walsh of Starsailor and Ed Harcourt.
