The Yorkshire Flea "in the Mean Time"

On this day in 1675 King Charles II and John Flamsteed ( the first Astonomer Royal) laid the foundation stone for the Royal observatory in Greenwich designed by Sir Christopher Wren whose Chief assistant was a man called Robert Hooke an english polymath who among many other achievements produced a very detailed drawing /fengraving of a flea in the new science microscopy. this drawing of a flea is the logo for our business @The Yorkshire flea with the addition of a flat cap. the foundation of the observatory was to solve the problem of longitude which hampered acuurate navigation on sea voyages.and laid the basis for huge chunks of modern life standardised time and the whole structure that underpins current technology.
