Babywearing Ireland Sling Meets are peer-to-peer support meetings, run by volunteers who are experienced babywearers.
They are a place where you:
can get information about safe babywearing,
can get hints and tips,
can get assistance in trying on slings,
can hear other people's and share your own experience about using slings,
can ask questions you may have about day-to-day life with slings,
may be able to rent slings for a small fee
learn about other babywearing resources
They are NOT a safe space for in-depth advice and instruction/teaching.
To ensure that everyone knows what is happening when, most sling meets have a schedule that is displayed at the meets.
BWI volunteers are not experts in fabric, fashion, medicine, sewing, or child development
It is not possible to cover all types of sling usage/styles of wrapping in one meeting. If someone wants to learn a particular type of way to use a woven wrap, please ask at the start of meeting and bear in mind it may not be possible that day. Most practical demos are done by librarian based on needs of group, her own ability and space available in room.
