Cement Heart carving workshop with Stuart Short

Stuart Short creates sculptures by carving into partially dried cement. His inspiration is taken from ancient neolithic and bronze age design and symbology incorporating spirals and concentric circles.

This workshop will explore the carving technique with a base moulded cement heart supplied, into which you will be able to carve a design of your choice.

Due to drying time they cant be glazed straight away.

A second workshop may be available, if there is enough interest, for those who wish to take their carved heart a stage further exploring glazing techniques to give the finished carved heart an ancient weathered bronze patina. There will be an additional cost to this workshop. Alternatively hearts can be painted.

Bring gloves. Marigold type to protect from the cement which can dry skin on hands - and messy clothes
