Skills and confidence building arts based workshops for Autistic and/or Learning disabled adults aged 18 years and older living in Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas.
What will it involve?
Twelve weekly workshop sessions where you develop skills and confidence whilst exploring different types of puppetry.
Things you might do across the twelve weeks:
- Design and create puppets - these could be shadow puppets, sock puppets or paper puppets.
- Learn about and look at different types of puppetry from around the world.
- Have a go at performing with the puppets you have created.
- Create backgrounds for the puppets.
- Work in a team to make a puppet show.
- Use voice and sound effects to bring the puppets to life.
These are just some of the things you might do, some of this might change depending on the group.
These sessions are aimed at beginners, no experience of creating puppets is needed.
The sessions will be facilitated by artists Natalie Willatt and Emily Andrews.
When are the sessions?
The sessions will run on Fridays starting 13 June until 18 July 2025 with a break on Friday 25 July and will start up again on Friday 1 August until 5 September.
