The Artist's Way Bookclub

Feeling creatively stuck? Let’s fix that. The Craftship is hosting a 12-week Artist’s Way book club - and we’re looking for artists, makers, and curious minds who want to reconnect with their creativity in good company.
Each week, we’ll gather to explore Julia Cameron’s classic book The Artist’s Way - a practical, inspiring guide to what she calls “creative recovery.” The sessions are relaxed, inclusive, and open to all creatives (even if you don’t call yourself one yet).
What is The Artist’s Way?
A 12-week creativity program that’s helped millions of people find their way back to their inner artist. Published over 30 years ago, it’s still one of the most-loved books on creative process and purpose. (Julia Cameron recommends doing it in a group - she calls them “clusters.” That’s what we’re building here.)
Fun fact: Grammy-winning hip-hop artist Doechii completed The Artist’s Way before writing her debut album. Details
How will the Bookclub work?
- Weekly meet-ups for 12 weeks - choose the session that works best each week:
→ Wednesdays 12:15-1:45pm
→ Sundays 10:30am-12 noon
Starting Wednesday 9th of July
- In-person at The Craftship’s new community studio at The Coachworks
- Online option available if you can’t make it in person
- You’ll need your own copy of The Artist’s Way (book and/or audiobook)
- We’ll provide a workbook + light facilitation
- Sessions are for reflection and group discussion - how deeply you go into the program is entirely up to you
- £30 for the full course (£2.50/week) - all goes to The Craftship community studio
You don’t need to be a practising artist - just open to more creativity in your life. If you’ve been feeling stuck, uninspired, or just want to share space with other creative folks - this might be the sign.
A note about cost: We believe money shouldn't be a blocker to finding creative community, so if you that's an issue for you joining - then please contact us.
How to get to The Craftship:
The Craftship has now moved from our space in Park Mall to our new home in the Coachworks, Dover Place, Ashford TN23 1HU. Please refer to our map for directions.
You can enter the Coachworks through the open yellow gates into the yard beside the Coffee Shed, then turn left into the Hot House door, walk straight down the stairs and turn immediately right at the bottom where you will see our new little space.
If you have accessibility needs please press the door bell on the Stage door on the Hot House and a member of the team will open the door and can put down a ramp to assist you if you need. Please be aware the door opens outwards so keep clear and always be gentle when opening the door to let yourself out or a team member will help you.
The nearest car parks are Dover Place (which is busy on weekdays), The Stour Center, Vicarage Lane, Car Park F Ashford International (Elwick Road) and Elwick Place.
