Frank Hammersley Sr is recovering from the effects of WW1. He's a busy postman of Leek, his son Frank Hammersley Jr "Frankie" grows up under his watchful eye. However, as Frankie grows, storm clouds of war bloom on the horizon again. As the relationship strains between father and son, choices are made, and nothing will ever be the same again.
