Will Jasper is a saxophonist, flautist, arranger and teacher. He is the son of tenor saxophonist Sije 'Sleepy' Jasper and nephew of pianist Lex Jasper.
Music (especially jazz) plays an important role in the Jasper family. He starts with a classical flute course in Leeuwarden. He studied saxophone at the Hilversum Conservatory with saxophonist Ferdinand Povel and graduated in 1991.
After his education, Will works in various musical productions such as Chekhov, Larry and Grace. After this period he mainly plays jazz, and tours with The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw through Japan and with The Glenn Miller Orchestra through Europe, Russia and the Ukraine. Will is also a member of The New Metronome Big-band, The Millennium Jazz Orchestra, The Stage Band, and the North Pole Orchestra.
In 1995 he founded Saxion V, a group with five saxophonists and a rhythm section. With this group he plays pieces by the renowned group Super sax, 5-part arrangements of written solos by Charlie Parker. Later these arrangements are replaced by arrangements by Will's father Sije and by Will himself. Over the years, Will has recorded three CDs with Saxion V. Recently, the debut CD of the WILL JASPER QUARTET “Jammin at the Stable” was released IN 2023
