Tournament Rules
1. CERTIFICATION: This tournament is sanctioned by the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and as such is governed strictly by the rules and regulations of that organization.
2. ELIGIBILITY: Must meet 1 of 2 bullets below.
*A current GBUSBC sanctioned bowler with a 12-game league average by the date of the tournament.
* A past GBUSBC bowler: defined as a bowler who has, in any previous season, established a 21-game average in a GBUSBC sanctioned league.
*If past member holds current USBC membership, they will pay GBUSBC local dues.
*If past member does not hold current USBC membership, they will pay USBC & GBUSBC local dues.
3. DIVISIONS: There is a handicap division and a scratch division. You may bowl in either division or both. If you bowl in both events your 3-game score will be used for both events. The Doubles event for scratch and handicap is optional. You may bowl in either or both events. The 3-game score for your singles event will be used for this event. You may bowl with more than one partner. However, all partners must bowl during the same squad. All bowlers must complete an entry form and indicate their choices.
4. MULTIPLE PARTICIPATION: You are allowed to bowl multiple times in each scratch or handicap event. Singles: You may cash only once in each division. Doubles: You may cash only once in each division with the same partner.
5. AVERAGES: Bowlers will use the first of the following that applies (sport and challenge average will be converted according to USBC rules):
*Highest 2024-2025 GBUSBC league average of 21 games or more
* Highest current GBUSBC league average of 12 games or more
* If none of the above apply, an average will be assigned based on bowling ability and past years’ USBC averages
6. AVERAGE RERATE: Bowlers may be rerated at the discretion of the Tournament Director. Any rerating will occur prior to bowling. If a bowler chooses not to accept a rerate, they will be refunded any prepaid entry fees.
7. HANDICAP: Handicap will be 90% of the difference between the bowler’s average and 230 for singles. 90% of the difference between the total of the bowlers’ averages and 460 for doubles.
8. USBC RULES 319a, 319d, 319e and 319f: These rules are waived.
9. BOWLER RESPONSIBILITY: It is the responsibility of the bowler to verify the accuracy of the average they use. The use of a lower than true average shall disqualify any score which was based on the incorrect average and no correction will be made for the use of a higher than true average. Average corrections may be made prior to the completion of the first game of a series.
10. CHECK-IN TIME: Check in 30 minutes prior to the squad start time.
11. LATE ENTRIES: Day of tournament entries will be permitted as space allows up to 30 minutes prior to squad time, with a $5.00 late entry fee. We recommend early entry sign ups.
12. PRIZE FUND: The prize fund ratio will be 1:4 for each division. No added sponsor money will go to the optional Doubles events. Any added money will be split prorated between the Handicap and Scratch Singles Events based on the number of entrants in each event. In the event of a tie for any position, prize money will be combined and divided equally. In the event of a tie for first place, co-champions will be declared.
13. MISSED FRAMES: A bowler who misses one frame or more by not being present and ready to bowl when it is their turn shall not be credited with any pins for frames missed.
14. LANE BREAKDOWN: If there is a breakdown tournament management reserves the right to move bowlers to another pair of lanes.
15. PROTESTS: The action of the Tournament Officials will be final unless an appeal is made in accordance with Rule 706. Protests must be made before Tournament awards are presented.
