Lana Shupe (11:00 a.m.)

When Lana grew up, she became a teacher and in her classroom, she was a reader of books and a teller of tales. Then she married a man who loved books and they filled their house with books. Then she became a mother -- three times! -- and she got to read LOTS of books to her very own children. Then those three children grew up and Lana became a writer of words that have been put into books.

Emma FitzGerald (1:00 p.m.)

Emma FitzGerald is a writer and illustrator born in Lesotho to Irish parents, though she did most of her growing up in Vancouver, British Columbia. She now calls E’se’katik (place of clams), also known as Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, home. She wrote and illustrated Hand Drawn Halifax, the first in her multi-city Hand Drawn series, and Sketch by Sketch Along Nova Scotia's South Shore. Emma has illustrated numerous picture books Town is by the Sea, Everybody’s Different on Everybody Street and most recenting The Man in Motion: How Rick Hansen's World Tour Broke down Barriers for People with Disabilities (Owl Kids, April 2026) . Emma frequently gives drawing workshops to people of all ages. When she isn’t sketching, she enjoys dancing and getting lost in new places.
