SAIL (Stay Active & Independent for Life) is a 12-week falls prevention fitness program designed for older adults that focuses on strength, balance, and mobility - which reduces the risk of falls and improves overall quality of life.
SAIL Fitness Class Benefits:
▪️Reduce risks of falling
▪️Improve balance, mobility and leg strength - all known risk factors for falls
▪️Maintain independence by building strength, improving balance and agility
SAIL Fitness Classes Include:
▪️ Exercises that can be done sitting or standing
▪️ Suited for all fitness levels
▪️ Fitness checks are done in the first class and at 12 weeks to track your progress.
Fitness checks include:
▪️8-Foot Timed Up and Go
▪️Bicep Curls
▪️Chair Sit-to-Stand
Who Can Attend SAIL Fitness Classes:
▪️Any older adult
▪️Anyone who has fallen in the past year or is fearful of falling
▪️Anyone looking to add exercise to their routine
Registration:
▪️Required for returning and current participants
▪️Register in person at the Glasgow Senior Center on Monday, June 30 from 10am - 11am
▪️If you can't make the in person registration day, please call FMDH EMS at (406) 228-3468 to register.
