Participants of all abilities will learn singing styles from a variety of countries and cultures as well as songs of social struggle from movements past and present. All songs will be taught by ear, no experience required β just enthusiasm and willingness to try new things! The workshops are a great opportunity to connect with your community, sing out, and gather inspiration and energy. The Windborne singers educate as they entertain, telling stories about the music and explaining the characteristics and stylistic elements of the different traditions. They invite participants to learn some of their signature arrangements, improve vocal technique and health, and sing together in harmony! Not to be missed!
Hailed as βthe most exciting vocal group in a generation,β internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble Windborne is known for their stunningly powerful arrangements and their ability to shift effortlessly between drastically different styles of traditional music within the same concert. While their musical knowledge spans many continents and cultures, they remain deeply rooted in the American singing traditions they have embodied since childhood. Praised for βthe purity of their voices, strength of their material, and attention to detail in their arrangements,β Lynn Rowan, Will Rowan, Lauren Breunig, and Jeremy Carter-Gordon share a vibrant energy onstage β their connection to each other and to the music clearly evident. They educate as they entertain, telling stories about the music and explaining the characteristics and stylistic elements of the traditions in which they sing.
