Intro to. Painting with Gouache with Doug Runyan

Join Doug Runyan for a fun, half-day class on painting with gouache, an opaque form of watercolor. Gouache (pronounced “gwash”) may be difficult to say, but it’s beautiful and fun to use! It offers the easy clean-up and simple materials of traditional watercolor and the forgiveness of oil paint - you can paint over your mistakes.

All supplies will be included and as part of the cost for the class each participant will take home a set of professional grade gouache paints to keep.

During the first half of the class, the instructor will discuss the gouache medium and do a short demonstration painting and participants will all paint a small scene selected by the instructor.

During the remaining time the students will work individually with Doug’s assistance on a small scene from a photograph they select and bring to the class.

A good mid-size round watercolor brush is included with the gouache paint sets, but participants may want to bring their favorite brushes (suitable for watercolor or acrylic) to the class.
