WHAT IS PEOPLE FIRST?
The Unstoppable People First of Washington is a member ran organization that focuses on advocating for those with disabilities. Specifically, focusing on that we are PEOPLE FIRST, before we are simply defined by our disabilities or medical conditions. We work together as a team to promote self-advocacy and the advocacy and inclusion of others within our PEOPLE FIRST of Wa family. 🫶
Being a member of this group means working together, participating in & supporting the community, operating with advocacy as a goal, educating yourself & others, helping each other & having fun!!
💭WHAT IS SELF-ADVOCACY?
Self-advocacy is speaking up on behalf of one’s own needs & wants. It’s about being able to decide what’s best for oneself. Explaining one’s own needs & wants as well as possible accommodations that are needed for yourself &/or others.
