Join us for the opening receptions for new exhibitions to be held during the First Thursday Art Walk on July 3. From 4 – 7 pm, MAC will host openings for Shapes & Spaces, an exhibition of photography by David Fallon, as well as an exhibition of beadwork by Nancy Kingbird. Please note that July’s art walk events have been moved from First Friday to First Thursday due to the Independence Day holiday.

MINNESOTA GALLERY | SHAPES & SPACES | David Fallon
David Fallon (St. Paul, MN) uses black and white photography to examine the ways that light and shadow interact to define the human form. His portraits feature individuals with a variety of body-structures and cultural backgrounds, challenging destructive narratives about beauty.

GIINAWIND GALLERY | Nancy Kingbird
Nancy Kingbird (Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe) started beading when she was ten years old. In the decades since, she has become well recognized in the region’s Indigenous community for her mastery of the art form. Her style, techniques and use of materials are distinct, and her work can be found in many private collections.

The reception will include food, wine, and other refreshments, with an artist talk at 6pm. The First Thursday event is sponsored by Cyrus N. White and Martha Grace Reese.
