Make it Wild: Weave a Krokbragd Mug Rug with Ingrid Wobst

Have fun weaving a vibrant and useful Krokbragd ‘mug rug’ on a 4-shaft table loom. Looms, wool, and tools will be provided by the instructor. No prior weaving experience needed. Ingrid Wobst will lead two classes (limited to 4 participants each) on July 19, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Krokbragd (‘crooked path’ in Norwegian) is a traditional Scandinavian weft-faced weaving structure. The dense and sturdy nature of Krokbragd textiles makes them ideal for rugs, table linens, and wall hangings.

A life-long knitter and sewer, Wobst began weaving 15 years ago and focuses on creating functional textiles using high quality fibers. Since moving to Jackson from Albuquerque in 2021, she has been leading weaving workshops at the Art Association of Jackson using rigid heddle and 4-shaft looms. “It is wonderful to share my love of weaving with other fiber enthusiasts. Everyone leaves with a beautiful handmade textile and, most importantly, an appreciation for the skill and time needed to produce quality woven items,” says Wobst.
