TODAY'S ARMY NEEDS MEN OF COURAGE, HONESTY, INTEGRITY... INSTEAD, THEY GOT HIM.
We all cope with bad days differently. Some people stress-eat a donut. Others make the very bizarre decision to not stress-eat a donut and instead do something called “exercising,” which sounds exhausting. For John Winger (Bill Murray, ISLE OF DOGS), he decided to cope with his bad day by joining the army.
To be fair, he did have a particularly bad day, losing his job, his apartment, his car, and his girlfriend within the span of a few hours. So the army can’t be worse than that, right? Well, it sure can be. It doesn’t take long for him and his friend Russell (Harold Ramis, KNOCKED UP) to realize they aren’t exactly army material. But despite his lack of fitness and respect for authority, Winger still finds himself leading an outfit of misfits (including the legendary John Candy) into a daring and hilarious clash with the Soviet Army.
Directed by Ivan Reitman just a few years before he cast his two leading men in GHOSTBUSTERS, STRIPES is a hilarious, irreverent showcase for some of the best comic performers of all time.
