Born in 1998 in Ruston, Louisiana, D.K. Harrell is a rising star of American blues. Inspired by B.B. King since age two, Harrell sang in his church choir and began playing guitar at 12, soon writing his own songs. A self-taught musician, he deeply studied blues legends and honed a soulful, expressive style. His debut album, The Right Man (2023), received critical acclaim and was the second most played blues album on U.S. radio that year. Harrell won Best Emerging Artist at the 2024 Blues Music Awards. Tune into the WUML radio show "Blues Deluxe" on Saturday June 28 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm EST to hear Harrel's interview with John Guregian via wuml.org
