July Section Night: Gregg Beisly on 'Blockades and Bandits' - beta on climbing in the Bolivian Andes

Gregg Beisly has been the NZAC National Instruction Co-ordinator since 2023. A few years prior to that, he lived for 6 years in Bolivia, with his wife and young family, where they developed mountain programmes for Bolivian youth, guided Andean peaks and explored as much as possible. We are lucky they are now living in Lumsden, and Gregg will speak to the club on ‘Blockades and Bandits’: Beta on climbing in the Bolivian Andes (plus a little club trip leader info)
Bolivia has a number of mountain ranges that abound with classic snow, rock, ice and mixed climbs. Add to that very fast access to most areas and incredibly stable weather patterns in the climbing season and you have a veritable alpinist’s paradise.

There is also a good amount of crag climbing and very epic boulder fields.


Note: The section night will be held in the Matheson Room at Knox Church, Dunedin (between George Street and Pitt Street). The venue is located behind the church. Please note that parking is not available on the church grounds, so drivers will need to find nearby street parking.
