Toronto singer-songwriter Shawna Caspi returns to Edmonton for a cozy solo show at The Hive House Concerts!
A house concert is a unique live music experience at a private home. The concert is open to the public, but reservations are required. For reservations and the exact address, email dGhlaGl2ZWhvdXNlY29uY2VydHMgfCBnbWFpbCAhIGNvbQ== or call 825-480-8439. Doors at 6:30pm, show at 7:30pm. Tickets are $25.
Shawna is on the road supporting her latest album, Hurricane Coming, which was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award and an Ontario Folk Music Award. She’ll have CDs for sale, along with postcards featuring original artwork she created inspired by each song on the album. Shawna is an accomplished visual artist and will also be selling original landscape paintings with her merchandise, while supplies last.
Audiences will feel comforted in the welcoming space that Shawna creates, and be engaged in songs that resonate with stories that are relatable, but told in new and unexpected ways, with lyrics that are poetic and meaningful, wrapped around intricate fingerstyle guitar accompaniment. This is music that makes an authentic human connection, that conveys a sense of closeness, of being understood, of feeling less alone.
Shawna is no stranger to the Alberta folk scene, and has appeared at some of the province’s best folk clubs, including the Calgary Folk Club, The Nickelodeon, the Northern Lights Folk Club, and the Vermillion Folk Club. She will be travelling from Toronto to Edmonton as the on-board entertainer on the VIA Rail train. Before the pandemic, Shawna was a regular participant in VIA Rail’s Artists on Board program, which offers complimentary or reduced fare travel for approved professional musicians in return for performing on board the long-haul trains. The program was recently relaunched and Shawna is glad to be riding the rails again! Shawna’s Alberta tour also includes dates in Valleyview, Lac La Biche, Calgary, Lethbridge, Dinosaur Provincial Park, and Medicine Hat.
