Program Overview:
The OTB STEM Summer Camp Program is designed to ignite the creative passions of young individuals by offering a diverse range of artistic and practical disciplines. Over 8 weeks, participants will explore science, art, creative writing, photography, filming, and music production, allowing them to create and perform as a team in various short films, documentaries, and/or family legacy videos. Participants will learn from Dr. Micheal Woodwoard, author and reading coach, and other professionals to help bring what was learned over seven weeks into an end-of-the-summer family presentation and Battle of the Books Competition. This program introduces youth to various STEM-related careers while fostering creativity, enhancing life and technical skills, and encouraging self-expression. Participants will select a career and life scenario at the beginning of camp and be challenged to budget finances and make real-life choices.
Mission:
Enriching the lives of underserved communities by empowering the youth and families to make productive and healthy choices for their minds, bodies, and environment.
Purpose:
The OTB STEM Camp aims to inspire interest in STEM careers by sparking curiosity and passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Campers will participate in Hands-On Learning, which goes beyond traditional classroom learning and makes complex concepts more accessible and engaging. Camp games and activities will help participants develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, which are valuable in any career and help build self-confidence. Ultimately, we want to provide a well-rounded camp that campers and parents will remember for years.
