Eco Talk – Wilding Free Mackenzie

Welcome to the South Canterbury Eco Centre’s monthly “Eco Talk”. During the first week of each month we aim to have a presenter, followed by supper. These sessions will be a minimum of $5 per person and can be booked via our website. There will be door sales but we appreciate knowing how many we are catering for. If you want to pay in cash please email Alice and confirm your booking YWRtaW4gfCBzY2Vjb2NlbnRyZSAhIG9yZyAhIG56.

We welcome Haeleigh Turner from Wilding Free Mackenzie, a community-led trust working to protect the iconic landscapes of the Mackenzie Basin from invasive wilding pines. Formed by local landowners, the trust runs volunteer days, coordinates with government and local partners, and educates landowners on restoring native habitats. Their work is vital for preserving biodiversity, safeguarding water resources, and reducing wildfire risks. Hear from Haeleigh about their hands-on efforts to keep the Mackenzie wild and thriving.

7pm – 9pm, speaker, Q and A, finishing with supper.

There will be a cover charge of $10 for this event to go towards supper and travel costs for Haeleigh to visit us from Twizel.

Thank you for your support!
