SARAH BENNISON is a professor at NYU, scholar, activist, and social entrepreneur. A historian of education, she focuses on 19th-century American womenβs history, religious history, and the American West. She began her teaching career in NYC Public Schools and has taught in Kβ12 and higher ed for 30 years. She founded the Trinity School Office of Public Service and the social-good sleepwear brand BennisonGives. She is co-founder and CEO of the Mattering Movement, exploring achievement culture and the science of mattering. She holds degrees from Smith College, Columbia University, Columbia Teachers College, and a Ph.D. from NYU.
