We take pleasure in visiting the highest waterfall in Trinidad.
Maracas Waterfall with an altitude of 91.5 metres is Trinidad’s highest waterfall. Located in the Maracas St.Joseph Valley the source comes from the southern foothills of Mt. El Tucuche.A great tourist destination,
a secure area to park is at the Wasa Pump Station situated by the red flamboyant tree and we walk the extra distance up the hill.

The journey on foot will take fourty- five minutes, and the uphill path crosses two little streams. Traditionally, the fall’s is a place for spiritual worship and lining the route are melted candles, flowers, and fruits.

The spurts of water cascading on the rock form a shower-like spray that is cool and exhilarating. Visiting is best in the rainy season when the water source is greater and the true magnificence displayed. Midway on the trail we will divert and explore a small pathway on the right where on the river are two Jacuzzi–like pools known as Balata Waterfall. At the gateway to the falls, the track leads into a secluded valley where towering cliffs and ever- green mountains beautify this natural wonder. The cascade encircled by giant boulders that add brilliance to the colorful scenery.

The falling droplets against the sun rays emit a rainbow effect that provides a natural hydrotherapy. It is refreshing to sit and enjoy the peaceful ambiance however caution advised when walking on the slippery rocks.
