About the film:
After the sudden passing of his only daughter in early November of 2022, Jeremy Schewe ('95), walked the Camino de Santiago twice in less than a year - once with his father and once with his wife. After such a life-changing experience and renewal of faith, Jeremy began working with several NGO's in Ireland to begin to restore an ancient pilgrimage route that is also the Way of Saint Patrick, though the pilgrimage route hales at least from the Bronze Age if not older. With geospatial modeling capabilities, awareness of the lay of land from over a decade of bringing people to Ireland, archives, ancient maps, research, and a phenomenal team of Irish planners, Jeremy voluntarily helped revitalize the 540-km pilgrimage that is currently being called the Ireland West Camino by partner organizations in Ireland.
Prior to bringing a group of 20 pilgrims to walk 187-km of the revitalized route in July of 2024, a colleague in a Cincinnati-based environmental firm made a substantial financial donation to underwrite the production of a high-level documentary to honor the inaugural launch of the Ireland West Camino. The 1.5-hour documentary weaves the story of the pilgrims' pioneering journey across the west of Ireland as they interact with ancient and contemporary sacred sites, local communities, musicians, farmers, clergy, craftspeople, and tradition keepers along the way. The film dives into the deeper why behind each pilgrims' journey, inviting the viewer to relate with the pilgrims experiences along the way. The film invokes an intrinsic sense of the pure, altruistic heart of humanity that still can be found beaiting under the thick veil of the confused world we live in today.
A NYC producer described the film as "a gorgeous meditative experience that had me laughing and crying... instilling a sense of hope again in humanity. A most see and I am ready to walk!"
