Step into Ballybeg this August for a powerful, site-specific performed reading of Brian Friel’s most celebrated play, Dancing at Lughnasa, in the place that inspired it.

Presented as part of FrielDays – A Homecoming 2025–2029, this 35th anniversary production features the largest-ever set design for the play, staged in Glenties, home to The Laurels, Friel’s maternal cottage and the play’s imagined setting.

Winner of the Tony Award and Olivier Award for Best Play, Dancing at Lughnasa was made internationally famous by the 1998 film adaptation starring Meryl Streep.
