Shared Ministry Presentation at St. John

Dear Members of Immanuel,

Recently, St. John formed an ad hoc Committee. This Committee was tasked with exploring the possibility of shared ministry between St. John and Immanuel. This Committee has begun the process to answer why such a merger is being explored and then to come up with a recommendation to the St. John Voters on whether to proceed further with the merger. As the Committee began its work, it became clear that outside assistance would be beneficial to help us look at this merger discussion. This is why the Committee is looking to make use of the Synod’s resources on assisting congregations who are exploring “Shared Ministry.” Since the Synod has been working with a number of congregations in our District and in our Synod on “Shared Ministry”, we feel they can offer us valuable insight. While the Synod program is not looking to tell congregations what to do or what directions to go, it can be a useful tool to help us see some of the important things we should be looking at as we begin our exploration of shared ministry.

To keep the congregations informed during this exploration stage, we are inviting everyone from both congregations to join us Wednesday, June 25, from 6:30-7:30pm at St. John. This meeting will not be making any decisions on a “Shared Ministry” between the two churches, but it will help both congregations to understand some of things that are important. Hopefully you can join us for this important presentation.
