Join paper artist Erin Newman for a hands-on workshop where you'll be guided through accordion book folding and create a professional-quality mixed media art journal, complete with an elastic closure. Using bookbinding techniques and tools, you'll be working with carefully selected papers to design a journal that's both functional and beautiful. No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. Students will take home a completed handmade art journal.
Accordion books are the perfect art journal because they lay completely flat for art-making. They can be displayed as a continuous artwork when opened or simply present your art on each page. This permits you to design your artwork how you want to display it. They are also the perfect size for travel sketching/journaling. Great for those who Zentangle!
