Welcome to our Tea/Ocha (お茶) Circle! This introductory class explores the Japanese tea ceremony, focusing on informal Japanese Chado, or "the way of tea.". In this class you'll explore the Zen principles behind the tea practice and learn how to create your own tea rituals to enjoy with friends, family, and yourself.
You will gain hands-on experience in receiving and serving matcha and sencha, and how to set the table for these teas. The class atmosphere can vary from quiet reflection to lively conversation and laughter.
Join us to enjoy our selection of organic teas (both caffeinated and non-caffeinated) and delightful Japanese traditional confections.
What to bring:
a Matcha bowl (cha-wan), bamboo whisk (cha-sen) and bamboo spoon (cha-shaku), Fukusa Napkin and Chakin/help cloth if you have them. We have extra to share. (You can purchase locally made Matcha bowl at @botanica in Fair Oaks Village. )
