Allington Strings: Echoes from the near Distance - Music from the British Isles

Allington strings return to St Swithun's Church, Bridport, and Crewkerne Methodist Church for a pair of concerts showcasing yet more music from lesser known and minority composers. Echoes from the near distance: Music from the British Isles, features two women composers, Joan Trimble's lyrical, effervescent, and energetic 'Suite for Strings', from Northern Ireland, and Morfydd Llywn Owen's brooding, whirlwind 'Romance for Strings', from Wales. They are joined by Granville Bantock with his evocative 'Scenes from a Scottish Highland', Nicholas Hooper’s fabulous 'Dumbledore’s Farewell' from Harry Potter, and Benjamin Britten’s fantastical 'Simple Symphony' – which is anything but simple!
