Creative Coast Club - Art, Play, Yoga and Seaside Exploration at Hive Beach

There is a HIVE of activity happening down on the beach this summer, so why not become a Creative Coast Explorer with the National Trust and join in the fun!

Every Wednesday through the summer holidays the National Trust, at Hive Beach, has a range of creative, fun and coastal based activities for children, young people and families (of any shape and size) to enjoy.

Sessions are FREE and people are encouraged to just turn up and have fun. No booking required.

Sessions are every Wednesday but please note that start times will differ due to the need to work with the tide !

Details of each Creative Coastal Club are below:

30th July with Oops Wow & Thriving Wild - Art & Nature themed play

6th August with Yoga with Leah and Rowan Beecham - Yoga & Art club

13th August with Pete Margerum - Get creative with found & recycled materials. Under full supervision children will have fun with all kinds of tools and let their imaginations run wild with the things they can create and invent

20th August with Oops Wow & Yoga with Leah - Art & Yoga on the beach

27th August with Yoga with Leah & Thriving Wild - Yoga & Nature play

3rd September with Oops Wow & Thriving Wild - Art & Nature Play on the beach

The art and nature play activities will include:
1) making paint from natural sources and then a variety of painting and drawing activities
2) playing with the naturally formed clay found on the beach, playing with sticks - making creatures, making pictures/trails and assault courses using found things from the beach
3) a variety of treasure hunts and sensory activities - listening, touching, smelling
4) sealife/shorelife based games might happen if numbers allow. We will respond to the predicted weather too, so if it is very windy, we will play with fabric, streamers/ kites etc.

The yoga will respond to the art/ nature activities provided, for example if we are exploring squid ink, the movements will explore squid like movements; if we are playing and painting with the clay that oozes out of the cliff, the yoga will explore the creatures that were around when the clay was laid down millions of years ago, also the feeling of the mud in our toes etc. The yoga always guides people to notice the sounds, the textures, the smells etc.
