Then/Now - A Historical Walking Tour of Downtown Kenora

The dirt streets of Rat Portage starting in the 1880’s have transformed and evolved into the City of Kenora we walk and drive around today. Come hear the stories of the first buildings that lined the streets of historic Rat Portage and learn about the various fires that blazed across the downtown core that shaped the look of Kenora. During the tour you will also see how many other buildings have stood and survived over time. With visual aids and commentary from Lake of the Woods Museum curator Rick Brignall, you will learn about the history of downtown Kenora – Then and Now.

Tour takes place at 1:30 pm on July 12, 2025

Tour lasts 90 minutes and involves walking around downtown Kenora.

Tour starts and ends at the Kenora Cenotaph in front of the Lake of the Woods Museum.
