Create a one-of-a-kind bead embroidered necklace. Students will select a kit to work from but additional beads will be available to choose from so each student will end up with a finished necklace that is uniquely theirs. Some kits feature a feather, flower, or butterfly focal. Others do not incorporate a mixed media element. Each student will select the project according to their individual taste. Bead embroidery is a technique using beads instead of embroidery floss to create a design on fabric. Once the technique is learned, it has a variety of purposes which will be discussed as part of the class. Additional kits will be available for purchase at a discount rate.
About your instructor: Kay Vandervort retired to Ely in 2014 and has become involved in the community. She participates in American Association of University Women, works part time at the Dorothy Molter Museum, and is involved in book club, writing group, and a number of local discussion groups. She enjoys experimenting with a variety of craft media.
