Home Alone Safety for Kids

This course is appropriate for young persons (in Grade 4/5/6 or at least 9 years old) interested in gaining their first steps towards independence and being without adult supervision.

Topics explored in this course include street smarts and bike safety, people safety (“Tricky People” and safe strangers), online and internet safety, snacking and kitchen safety, home fire safety, sibling rivalry, preventing accidents, how to handle emergencies and basic first aid skills.

We ask that students wear comfortable clothing, including clean footwear. Students are NOT permitted to leave the training centre at breaks or lunch. We recommend students bring a water bottle and a bagged lunch. A microwave and water cooler are available on site. All other necessary materials and equipment will be provided. Students who stay and participate for the full length of their course will also a receive a certificate of attendance.

Parents are invited to attend the *optional* "Parent Wrap Up" hosted at 3:30 pm on our day of learning to learn with their child everything that was covered in the course.

If you are unable to attend your scheduled Home Alone Safety for Kids workshop, please provide a minimum of 24 hours notice to avoid a $25 (plus GST) rescheduling fee.
