Intermediate Skills - Zippers

Nobody wants to deal with a busted zipper! Learn to repair zips that can be saved, and how to replace those that can’t.
In this class we will teach you how to sew in zippers, whether you’re interested in invisible zips or making it a feature piece. If you’re sewing your own clothes or wanting to repair an old favourite jacket, we can cover the essentials to get you on track to sewing zippers like a pro.

We will sew some samples for you to keep as your own sewing guide in the future, using a variety of fabrics and zip styles.

What we'll cover:
Sewing zippers in sample fabrics
Troubleshooting zips with quick repairs
Hand basting zippers into clothes
Using the correct sewing machine feet for the job
Inserting and finishing zippers in clothes (including exposed and invisible zips, and a lap zipper)

This is an ideal class for sewists who know their way around a sewing machine, able to independently troubleshoot common issues.
