Marvelous Monarchs with Xerces Society

Join Kaitlin Haase, Pollinator Conservation Specialist with the Xerces Society, for a presentation on the marvelous and magnificent monarch butterfly! This strikingly charismatic pollinator is well known for its incredible migration from Mexico to Canada and its connection to milkweed as a host plant. Recently proposed for listing under the Endangered Species Act, the monarch needs our help to create and protect habitat throughout its international range including New Mexico! We'll search the garden for nectar and host plants preferred by monarchs in our region, discuss how to grow these native pollinator plants in your garden, and share ways to contribute to community science projects and volunteer for habitat restoration in New Mexico.
