This month our speaker will be our own member Richard Todd.
Richard Todd is a Chemist who took up diving in 1970. He has taught “Travel Photography with a Smartphone” at TCU, and UW videography at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. He has led dive trips to every continent (but Antarctica) and multiple oceans.
A job relocation in 2012 brought him from Monterey to Texas, and he recently joined Scubadillos and DUPS – currently DUPS Contest Chairperson.
In Monterey, he founded the Monterey Peninsula Underwater Photographers (MPUP) and established himself as a Director of Underwater Photography competitions. The Fiji Shootout, the Bonaire Shootout, the Indonesia Shootouts, and the Underwater Malaysia Competitions (with huge budgets from respective Tourism Departments) were run or Co-directed by Richard. Before that, he started the Environmentally-aware Photographic Image Competition (EPIC) an iconic, standard-setting environmental photography competition with four Aquariums at corners of the US (Baltimore, Monterey, Chicago and New Orleans). All proceeds went to the Our World Underwater Scholarship Society run by Rolex.
