On a hot and humid June 15th, 13 slow jammers gathered at the Old North Bar to play Old Time tunes together. We played:

Rock Andy in A modal
Five Miles to Ellum Wood in A
Brushy Fork of John’s Creek in A (Led and sung by Rosie)
Golden Slippers in G
Nail That Catfish to the Tree in G
Shove the Pig’s Foot a Little Further in the Fire in G
Tombigee Waltz in G
Seneca Square Dance in G
Altamont in C
Black Eyed Susie in D (led and sung by Rosie)
Lily of the Valley in D
Can you Dance a Tobacco Hill in D
Waiting for Nancy in D
Sugar Hill in D
Old Molly Hare in D

This weekly jam is meant to bring beginners and experienced musicians together. Consider joining the roster of mentors who will help host some of the sessions. Or think about switching from your dominant instrument (or dominant hand!). This is a wonderful opportunity to slow down and focus on technique, to ask questions, and to share tips with new players.
This is an all acoustic, all ages, and all levels SLOWish JAM to play traditional Old Time music in 3/4 and 4/4 time. No percussion or bass please, unless you are able to keep a VERY steady rhythm (acoustic/U-basses can be amplified).
Old North serves brunch until 3 pm (or they sell out). Plan to arrive early to eat before the jam.
