Greg Simon Trio

Greg Simon is a composer, jazz trumpeter, and educator based in Lincoln, Nebraska, whose dynamic and culturally rich music draws from jazz, funk, Balinese gamelan, and other global influences to explore heritage and intersection. Praised for its energy and accessibility, his work has been performed internationally by leading ensembles and featured in prominent festivals, recordings, and broadcasts. Greg is an Associate Professor of Composition and Jazz Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he also directs the Flyover New Music Series and the UNL Jazz Orchestra. He is active in both classical and jazz spheres, performing with various groups and mentoring young musicians. His accolades include composition awards from major institutions, and he contributes significantly to music education through writing, curriculum development, and national presentations. Simon holds degrees from the University of Michigan, University of Colorado, and University of Puget Sound, and has previously taught at several universities.
