Beginning Quilting: Baby and Lap Quilts

Join Tonya for a hands-on quilting journey from start to finish! This beginner-friendly class begins with a special trip to Chester's Thriftway, where Tonya will help you choose a pattern or design and select color-coordinated materials to create a beautiful, balanced quilt.
After selecting your fabric, we'll meet at the Leather and Fiber Arts Studio at Painted Sky. There, Tonya will guide you through essential quilt-making skills, including fabric measuring and cutting, piecing and sewing, and pressing seams. Once you're comfortable with the basics, you’ll assemble your quilt—layering the quilt top, batting, and backing—then learn to baste, quilt, and finish your project. You'll also cover final touches like trimming, binding, and squaring off your quilt, using either machine or hand techniques.
By the final session, you'll have a completed, one-of-a-kind baby or lap quilt to treasure—or gift to someone special!
Fabric is purchased separately by the student and is not included in the class fee.
Ages 12 and up (students under 16 must be accompanied by an adult).
