The Secret World of Owls

To the Navajo People, they’re bad luck. The Greeks and Romans believed they were witches. What’s certain is that owls are too little seen and too little understood. Ornithologist Steve Betchkal shines a light on the fascinating lives of some of the world’s most secretive birds.

Steve Betchkal has hiked/camped/backpacked/traveled all 50 U.S. states & Puerto Rico,
88 National Wildlife Refuges, 85 National Parks, 55 National Forests, and 4 Canadian
provinces in pursuit of wild birds. In 2017 he worked in the Galápagos for Lindblad-
National Geographic.

Steve is an ornithologist and ecologist, Master Naturalist, and Eau Claire liaison for Welcome Back Bird Day. He is the author of 8 books, including his latest 101 Apologus Nights.
