Reviving the Victorian Fashion of picnicking in cemeteries, DVSS is escaping the September city heat for a cool cemetery and an Excursion on the Georgetown Loop Railway amidst the golden aspens of a Rocky Mountain Autumn.

We'll gather in the Silver Plume Cemetery at 11:00 am for lunch and touring the cemetery as time allows. Please bring a picnic lunch and a blanket or portable chair for seating. (Bringing enough to share is nice, but absolutely not necessary.) The cemetery at Silver Plume is considered one of the best 19th century cemeteries in the state. It is an active cemetery, so we will expect respectful behavior and leaving the site cleaner than we found it. The cemetery is sited in a fairly typical sub-alpine landscape, so sturdy footwear is suggested.

We'll take a train ride after lunch. Make your reservation for the 2:25 pm trail; the only option this year is from Devil's Gate, on the Georgetown end of the line. Georgetown Loop runs steam engines on most days, so we'll keep our hopes up for low fire-danger and running steam engines. The trip is about an hour and 15 minutes, and the cost is $40 per adult.

Remember that Neo-Victorian and Steampunk attire is always admired, but never required.
