Stage Combat Workshop with Taylor Wingate

Workshop Description: Are you an actor who has been asked to engage in a violent scene onstage and had no clue how to do so? Have you ever wondered how professional actors fight onstage and not injure their friends? Then this is the workshop for you! Come and learn the basics of unarmed combat. In this workshop, we will focus on stage slaps, punches, kicks, and more. Let’s pretend to beat up our friends and look really cool while doing it!

Instructor: Taylor Wingate
Taylor Meng Wingate is the Education Coordinator and House Manager for the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts. Outside of the Columbia, she is a theatre artist and educator who has directed, acted, and hosted a wide range of workshops for various theatres in southeastern Louisiana. She is certified in various stage combat weapon systems through Dueling Arts International and frequently trains with both DAI and the Society of American Fight Directors. Since 2020, she has taught both English and Theatre in the classroom. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Education from the Mississippi University for Women.

Tickets are $20/person; workshop is limited to 15 people.
