THE SAILING PROGRAM WILL RUN MONDAY -FRIDAY JUNE 23- JUNE 27
HOURS ARE: 9AM-2PM
JUNE 23 - DAY ONE
Instruction on 4 basic knots (bowline/figure 8 with a twist/ 2 half hitches/cleat hitch) and we will teach the kids how to properly throw a line so that it reaches the intended target.
Chalk talk on basic sailing and nomenclature including homework to take off site.
Swim test (treading water for 10 minutes without a life jacket)
JUNE 24- DAY TWO
We will have a quiz on what we covered DAY 1
Saling on Keel Boats
This will give the students the sense of what happens when you steer a boat. Did you know that sailboats with tillers turn left when you turn the tiller to the RIGHT? THE OPPOSITE of how you steer a motorboat, car or golf cart.
JUNE 25 - DAY THREE
• On water training with the club Lasers
JUNE 26 - DAY FOUR
• On water training with the club Lasers
JUNE 27 - FINAL DAY
• Fun Regatta with Prizes
Fees for the students will be $200 for the 5 day program which will cover all club costs to register the boats, insurance and maintenance. (DBYC MEMBERS $175)
Students will provide their own coast guard approved life jackets.
