The Batailles of the Diaspora:"Round One" in partnership with the Artist Collective is a community event promoting the Dance community and cultural exchange while highlighting local vendors and small businesses. This inaugural event is the first of many uplifting cultural pride and preserving African and Caribbean cultures of the Diaspora. The dance battle will serve as a way to showcase our local talent while educating us on how we are all connected through dance.The judges are Alvin Carter Jr., Sistah Anyango and PopTart. All well known community members and preservers of African and HipHop culture in Hartford. The event will be emceed by Tang Sauce and live African drumming by FriendZWorldMusic musicians Asaad Jackson aka DJ stealth and Curtis Greenidge. Local vendors will be present like The 224 Ecospace " The Hive", Joy Monroe (JOLAC) and ACA Piragramic Arts presenting the “ACA Kemetic Brotherhood”.
